 2012

“I SHOT SIX HOLES IN MY FREEZER” SLUMBER PARTY

For many years the Tulsa Parrot Head Club, in conjunction with the Wagoner Parrothead club, have put on the “I Shot Six Holes in my Freezer” slumber party at Western Hills Lodge in Sequoyah State Park*, just outside Wagoner on Fort Gibson Lake.  The idea for the party comes from Jimmy Buffett’s song “Boat Drinks” where he talks about being stuck in a very cold climate and wishing he was somewhere warm.

Our date for the slumber party this year is Sat.,Feb 25.  The party will start around 6:00 PM at the bunkhouse, which is right by the lodge.  Overnight accommodations are available in the bunkhouse.  All rooms are double occupancy (two couples per room) and some rooms sleep 6 and have bunk beds for single folks.  There is one private room with King Bed which will be given away to someone staying overnight during the party.  The cost to stay in the bunkhouse is $25 per person.  We strongly encourage people to stay overnight rather than drive home after enjoying several adult beverages.   For those who may prefer to just attend the party and not stay overnight in the bunkhouse, the cost for the party only is $15 per person. The cost has gone up a little from last year.

Everyone is asked to bring a dish or appetizer to put on the buffet for our “pot luck” dinner and BYOL.  Then we also ask everyone to bring something for the breakfast on Sunday morning.  Pre-made breakfast casseroles, pastries, fruit, just whatever you think sounds good for breakfast.

For those of you who are slumber party “virgins” here is a little of what goes on at the party……drinking, Jimmy Buffett music and videos on the big screen, games and contest, drinking, door prize drawings, food, conga line, pajama contest, drinking, “last man standing” contest…..and oh by the way did I say that we would be enjoying a few adult beverages?

You may ask, “What is this pajama contest?”  Every year around 8-8:30 during the party we announce that everyone go put their PJs on and comeback to the party.  Then we judge who has the best looking pair of pajamas and a prize will be given to the winner.  Also, our most coveted honor “the last man standing” award is given to the person who can stay up the longest that night.  They will be forever immortalized with their name on our “Last Man Standing” plaque.

Can’t forget to tell you about “Shaking the Baby”.  The Wagoner club has a special drink mix that they provide every year for the party.  This particular drink has to be shaken (not stirred) in a big glass jar for 30 minutes prior to drinking, thus the term “Shaking the Baby”.

I hope that all of you will consider coming out this year for the Slumber Party so we can show the Wagoner club who has the most party hearty club.  If possible we need you to RSVP to Cathy Boley at nurseboley@aol.com  if you plan on attending.  We would also like as many as possible to pre-pay at the next meeting, on Tues., Feb. 21th at Fishbonz.

HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE 2011
